Key Issues
-
Restore the Balance of Power
City Administration and City Council must work together to ensure that the needs of their constituents are heard and met. Ogdenties deserve less closed session meetings where city business are policy are conducted without public record. We also deserve a healthy balance of power between the Council chambers and the Mayor’s office. Alicia will collaborate with fellow elected officials to reduce administrative overreach, and reestablish better transparancy with the public.
-
Improve Infrastructure
Ogden’s growth has long outpaced the need for improved infrastructure. The time is now to make critical interventions and repairs to aging the sidewalks, streets, and other public thoroughfares. As a city councilperson, Alicia will prioritize work in areas of the city that have waited decades for these improvements to basic quality-of-life, and hold City Administration to the promises outlined in numerous city, district, and neighborhood strategic plans.
-
Invest in Neighbors and Neighborhoods
An At-Large Seat represents the entire city, not just one district. There needs to be a citywide reinvestment in the people who already live here, and neighborhoods across the city, not just in the Central Business District downtown. Alicia will prioritize a study of city commissions and committees and their efficacy, evaluate the need for broader representation of opinions through district-specific committees/councils, and create more real-time opportunities for residents to easily connect with their council members.
